STRAW BALE @ SANDFORD

Practicality, passive performance and a tethered connection with nature. The strawbale “earth” house; born out of a sustainability conscious & pragmatic client brief.

A low lying floor plane anchors the occupants to the ground, providing a strong connection with the earth, vertically speaking. Externally thick solid walls surround, encompassing inhabitants in a heavy robust shelter.

The brief was simple and so too was the philosophy for the design; and what was produced was a building of grounded-ness, stability and stillness.
